ICE correspondents cover education related issues in most of Europe, Australia, North Africa and the countries of the former Soviet Union. Our network in the Americas is expanding. We have local correspondents in a number of countries in the Far East.
Our languages
Our working languages are: Arabic, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Norwegian (Bokmål), Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Swedish.
Correspondents
We work with a group of around 50 freelancers. The majority of these are based in Europe but we have affiliated correspondents throughout the world.
None of our freelancers work exclusively for ICE and this is not our aim either. ICE writers work for some of the most respected specialist journals and for a wide variety of national and international newspapers. ICE editors and translators have typically earned their credit working for international organisations.
Affiliated freelancers are scrutinised both on their knowledge of our field of expertise and on their language skills. Which is not to say that there is no space for individual style within ICE. Some of our freelance writers are reporters, some of them are researchers, some of them are both. Others again think of themselves more as copywriters than as journalists. What matters is that we know who of them are good at what. We know who is the right person for any specific task.
Education
ICE freelancers write, edit, proof and translate texts in the fields of work and learning. We are specialists. We do not accept any other jobs.
Editors
Looking for a correspondent who can cover a meeting, research a topic, do a quick interview, write a background story or wire a newsbrief from a place where you don't have a correspondent ?
Use the sensitive map on the entrance page to this web-site to check whether we have either a stationary or travelling correpondent who may be able to report on the issue you want covered.
If we do, get in touch. Chances are that he or she can do it.
If we don't, get in touch too. Chances are that we can use our network to find someone who can.
Interested in working with ICE ?
If you are a freelance journalist, copy-writer or translator who specialises in education issues we would like to know who you are and where you are.
Drop us a line. There are no obligations whatsoever. You will not be added to any public lists and your name or details will not be published anywhere. There's simply no hitch. We're a network of equal partners and intend to remain just that. All we want is your affiliation to ICE if you have any time spare during any time of the year so we can forward commissions to you when you are the person to do a particular job or when colleagues are busy on other assignments.
Just one word of warning: we're rigid ! Your writing skills in either English, French or German have to be excellent, not just good, and we really want you to be knowledgeable in your own (education related) field.
